The 992 911 will still have a manual transmission as a no-cost option. Can I afford it, or a 991, or a 997, or a 996, NOPE. Does the used 911 manual pool continue to increase, YEP! Will I be able to one day afford one? Hope so!
Can we expect a Jalopnik post on this tomorrow, probably.

Ah, but the Carrera won’t have a manual.

We can only hope.

I’m glad the manual transmission exists.
I would probably still get the PDK. It’s too good.
Sorry. I’m p art of the problem.

I’d order mine as a base model with PDK. That freakin transmission has ruined me. It’s just sooooooooooooooo good.

This is the only correct opinion.

That’s fine, I’ll just buy a Carrera S...
W ait, they cost HOW much!?
![]() 10/30/2019 at 20:38 |

That’s a shame. Didn’t know this was the case.

YES. I like Porsche and I like manuals.

Hey, 718s don’t move themselves!

glad the S model is getting the manual gearbox option.
I was hoping it would at least stick around if they do another GT-lite 911T model boiled down to the performance essentials with the base engine, like the 991 T model. Just wish they wouldn’t charge MORE for it.

The Carrera T was a good value depending on what you want in your 911. I wrote an article a while ago breaking down what is included in the package, comparing it with what comes in the base Carrera and Carrera S, and highlighting the stuff that it gets that it normally specific to higher-spec models.

I think I remember that article a bit. It is probably just an initial psychological reaction to paying more for what seems like a de- contented model.
But yes, it is a compelling back-to-fundamentals package... and a natural fit for a manual gearbox.

So I was at the dealership today picking up my car and I noticed this for the first time... the stock exhaust is a quad? Not a fan. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a quad on a Porsche but I may be mistaken. Pic from the internet:

Ideally, you’d have a new turbo-d PDK in the driveway, and an older, manual, NA in the garage.

I’d want at least an S anyway, so...

They’re all so wide now, designers maybe thought they needed it.

That is indeed the ideal combo.
Cayman GTS w/PDK and a 911 GT3 Touring. Yum.

Oh, hell yes (but I was thinking older - maybe 997 GT3?).
Check out this guy’s stable...

Can’t really go wrong with any generation of GT3. I’m just smitten with the 991.2's now.
and...h oly crap he has a lot of 911's.

Oh, I am, too. A 991.2 GT3 Touring is my dream car.
Feel fortunate that it might actually be attainable for me some day...

I feel the same way!

Have you seen any stats on how many they’ve
actually made? Seems like, after they hysteria around the R, there were a ton of manual GT3s (Touring or not) produced, both to fulfill pent up demand and probably some by speculators. Now all we need is time, a slight recession, and the number of people who can actually drive a manual to drop precipitously - ha!

Yeah, the take rate was really high for 991.2 GT3's. And while I’m not a manual elitist like I used to be, I feel the GT3 (esp. the Touring) is really the perfect kind of car to have three pedals. The GT2/3 RS models SHOULD have PDK. They’re purely track weapons. The base GT3 is all about drive involvement. So I’m thrilled to see so many three pedals GT3's out there. Maybe I’ll have an RS6 and a GT3-T in my garage some day.
Also it seems that there are a TON of PTS GT3-T’s. I love it.

Oh my... RS6 + GT3 Touring would be amazing.
Yes! Love having the choice of interesting colors.

Maybe but the performance exhaust is just 2 big pipes. I still prefer the center dual p ipe look though
![]() 10/31/2019 at 17:02 |

Yeah, 2 in the middle look great.
![]() 10/31/2019 at 18:28 |

Yup. Just throw in there a good 4x4 diesel full size or 3/4 ton truck and it’s perfect.
Or basically a high-end version of where my garage was before I sold the 997.
A PTS slate gray GT3 Touring with CF buckets and PCCB’s would probably be perfect for me. Saw a manual GT3 in that color at a Porsche dealer event last year and I’m just smitten with it.
The RS6...I want a loud color. I love Vegas Yellow. I may even break character and consider that Misano Red..

Vegas Yellow is great, but you should probably go with Merlin Purple.

Merlin is an awesome color.
